What Class is the Member Above You?

 Share

Recommended Posts

This was a neat little deviation that, for whatever reason, has been on my mind for a while. I think it thanks to some of the interactions that go on in this section and it certainly is a bit of a game in itself. I figured it would be an interesting way to interact and do something lighthearted all while learning a bit more about each other and how each in turn makes that perception.

The Rules of the Game

Each response has to create or name a class for the poster above them that best describes them. It must be at least a single word like "bard" or "cleric" or "rogue" but can be anything from fantasy to modern settings. Descriptions are nice as well to hear why and the more thought, the better.

Each response has to be somewhat accurate, even if an in-joke.

Each response has to be
unique
. Repeats come with penalties, see below.

Each response starts with a +1, +0, or -1, if the replying user agrees, is neutral, or disagrees with the post before them. It would be nice to be told why too, not just receive a rating.

Each response ends with the total number the poster currently has. Whoever gains 25 points first wins. The game then restarts completely.

Each response needs to be polite. If there's any trouble for being intentionally mean or disruptive, it's an automatic loss.

It could go either way to be honest...

@idlehands is a rogue, we kind of all knew that though.

I think he's too crafty and sly to be anything other than a rogue. His avatar is a pirate too and pirates are basically thieves with boats. He also talks about collecting things too.

@Bubcat has to be a healer. He works at an actual hospital.

He can't be a healer, he told us he works at the hospital as an engineer!

@WolfishGrin is a werewolf though. All he ever talks about howling at it and how bad he wants to run around at night.

Like there's anything else to do around here at night, @Emerald Insight! Plus, that one was too easy.

@Emerald Insight is a student, because she basically takes notes on all of us! I only said I howled once here, it's been months since I said that last time!

The first player just begins using my own post here to start and the game progresses from there like the example.

@Red-in-Tooth is some kind of prehistoric big cat I think? He's very sophisticated and wise, like one would expect and ancient creature to be be. Plus, the pfp. And I already know you so...

Hope this is how it's meant to be played.

That is the basic hang of it, all that is missing is an actual "name" of a class from the post and awarding a point to the player above (or not, if relevant). So maybe a class like a "sage" fits "sophisticated and wise", points awarded for actual content either way and learning.

@EvernightWild is the "merrymaker", a social butterfly flitting about to and there, everywhere, and interacting with everyone with a special emphasis on the joy of others.

Anything that can be thought of that sounds like a class or is a class, as it merely needs to be justified or the next poster can simply just deduct a point or award no points. So if that is the forte and avenue enjoyed, by all means use that to start with. Just avoid duplicates, because anyone paying attention can take a point for that too.

@2-D is the "favored soul sorcerer", a magic worker with a divine twist and often an artistic flair.

That is actually most interesting that I received said flash of an impression, @2-D. I merely had a feeling that was accurate and it seemed to be the case! Likewise, my thanks for the compliments, it is a sincere pleasure to be so respected.

At this point, I will leave it up to whoever would like to go next (starting with 2-D here for another round) to continue the cycle and the game proper, rather than taking up all the interactions.

Oh yes! Summoner sounds very cool for @Finna Alsvartr 😊

However I don't see @Red-in-Tooth as a warrior but, specifically, as a paladin as he always bring common sense and guidance.

And since paladins are always attached to a deity, I would say his would be Zudin, goddess associated to serenity, the light at dawn and water springs.

I sort of agree and sort of don't. I don't see @Red-in-Tooth as a traditional slashing warrior. They're a fighter but more in a "the pen is mightier than the sword" kind of way.

I'd describe @Jemril the Bard as a 'Mediator'.

Level headed, being able to deliver judgement and work without bias - and just all around having a peaceful aura.

(I'm no good at judgement so this will be interesting)

I can agree with this vibe.

For you, @Jeb_CC, I feel some difficulty evaluating what class I think you would be, but I am going to settle on a Fighter, the very knowledgeable and trained up kind from D&D. This isn't because I view you as a particularly violent being (despite your monster status), but more because you have the ability to do damage, but you also have the knowledge and training to not unduly unleash those "weapons" on those around you. I believe I can see this reflected in your signature and in your written attempts to understand yourself in other parts of the forums.

I can agree I see a fighting type to their personality without being a literal "fighter" in the overt sense of the word. Similar to the way I reflect on myself being a "warrior", more akin to "warrior-philosopher".

@magicdoll has always struck me as the "magician". Something about the presentation and spritely colorful nature and fluidity in it, yet a sense of much deeper power; for all the vibrancy, something more that lies under it. As a magician, a highly varied magical talent too, not just one specific discipline, rather a wide smattering of many different arcane almost like a sorcerer, albeit more schooled.

I was thinking of a similar prospect but unsure how to put it into words. Magician is an excellent classification.

@Red-in-Tooth For you I would say... the Intermediary. The diplomat between felines and humans, you radiate the experience of both species and come across with a refreshing and non judgemental expression.

I do believe "intermediary" is an apt description of what it is I actually do in part. So too do I certainly feel like I have experience in both and that strange sense of in between fostered by that, all while being not unique in that sense. I am one and I am the other at the same time yet I am hardly something different from either truthfully.

@Jeb_CC seems to embody the concept of the "technician", a specialist in several regards in technical aptitudes and approaches, as well as having an air of strategy around them. It always feels like in conversation they are several steps ahead thinking in it and on it. Something precise, never too long, never too short.

I agree with your assessment.

I believe you are an Entertainer, @Red-in-Tooth. There is an almost calculated showiness about your posts, which carries the risk of being misconstrued as manipulation, or even intimidation. You are certainly not shy about tooting your own horn, which is something the insecure may take as a threat, but those who are equal in confidence can appreciate it. It reminds me of a veteran storyteller revealing, with many flourishes, his riveting tales from exotic lands not many have seen.

magicdoll is an inquisitive rogue. The above post is enough proof.
The part of my mind which brought me here (Chrysalis in a matter of speaking ) has been insistent on traveling between my homes and I felt that managing to do something along the lines of that would be a challenge to my intellect.

Just because someone is wholesome doesn't mean they are all good. I say Moby is more like a wondering barb.

FeralSol is a Hunter. They are inspired by the jaguar and carry the determination of their kin. I wanted to say mercenary, but they don't seem like a person who finds no value in the life of others.

I'd say chime is a rogue. Your bio says you like to tinker, and in D&D you'll find a lot of rogues have tinker tools.

I think Southern_Draconic is a nomad. From everything I've read that you've posted, you don't seem very settled in or attached to one place, geographically. Location doesn't seem to matter to you as much as community and specific individual people.
