It's simple! Just continue the story. I'll start.

You are in a dark room. In every direction is darkness, and you can't seem to find a wall in any direction. You have with you a flashlight, but the batteries are running low. You smell a sharp dankness that seems to grow stronger towards the left of you.

"Before we start testing today, let's have our mandatory minute of silence in honor of Earth's governing body, the Sentient Cloud. [throat clear] Starting now. [a pause] [coughing] Good, right. All hail the sentient cloud. Begin testing."

"Damn cheap batteries. Good thing I brought some spares." slapping your right pocket, just to make sure they're there. You push on through the darkness, following the dank smell. Suddenly you slip, falling hard on your butt. "@#$%!" As the pain subsides, you notice the feeling of an oily substance beneath your hands. Probably the cause of your mishap. Cautiously you stand up. Your hands are now covered in the oily gunk and without thinking you give it a whiff.

"Is this.."

"Ink?" With this realization, the darkness seems to press closer, and the smell gets stronger. You can feel it; something is approaching. at this moment, the flashlight batteries finally give up on you, and you can see nothing. You fumble for the batteries in your pocket, but they're not there anymore. You desperately search for them but come up with nothing. Unable to tell where this thing is coming from, you pick a direction and start to run.

After what seems like forever, you finally stop, out of breath. Your heartrate slowly lowers from it's panicked flutter. Your arms are still shaking, but your body is tired and drained. You have no choice but to sit down. The cement under your butt is slimy and cold. The smell is still ever-present, but not as strong. You wish you could change your pants now. In fact, you wish you had a rain jacket. It's too cold and damp here. You lean back forgetting there are no walls. Until your back hit's exactly that- a cold and slimy brick wall. It's still pitch black. You can hear water running nearby. You feel in your pocket again. Strange, the batteries seemed to have returned. Maybe it was your panic or your attention deficit that misplaced them so dumbfoundedly. You change the batteries in the flashlight, and switch it on.

Panning around with the flashlight beam, you try to ascertain where you are. You don't remember being outside, but the mossy brick wall and the sound of running water would seeing to indicate that you are. But you can't see anything that would confirm or deny this. Actually, you can't see much of anything at all. At least, that is, until you sweep the beam of the flashlight back to the left and it falls across and immense creature, barely distinguishable from the darkness around it, huge maw hanging open to reveal the faint glimmer or row after row of razor sharp teeth. With a panicked shout you drop the flashlight and are plunged into darkness.

You're too tired to run. You can't even stand up again. But yet somehow you manage to scramble quickly, feeling the floor for the flashlight. You pick it up and turn it on. It's better to know the face of death than die in mystery. But to your surprise, it isn't attacking. It sits there, motionless. You can hear the rattle and stir in it's chest as it breathes. It seems to want something, although it's hard to make an expression out of cold dead eyes and a horrifying mouth.

After looking closer at its eyes, you realize that they aren't cold nor dead. They look like the eyes of someone lost and terrified. "Please... help me. He'll soon return..." Before you can respond, you hear the loud, echoing footsteps of what can only be certain death. The monster next to you swats the flashlight out of your hand and into the abyss. "Light makes him violent. We've been here so long... I can't even remember the warmth of the sun..."

Good god, how horrible. What could possibly be more terrifying than this creature accompanying you? Was it always like this? "We'll be fine as long as the light isn't on." It's voice is so raspy and breathless. You're not even sure you can trust this thing, but your fatigue leaves you with no choice. As it gets closer, its footsteps shake the ground. As it enters your presence, its breathing is even more terrifying than the friendly creature. It's as if thousands of souls are gasping for air. You feel as if something's face is right in yours. In fact, it is. It's breath smells like human decay and sewage. You're doing your best not to throw up, let alone move. Some of the saliva drips onto your face. Good luck getting that smell out. It soon passes, heading in a different direction. You finally feel like you can breathe.
